Dogecoin creator backs new cryptocurrency MoonPaw
In a recent Tweet, Dogecoin creator Billy Markus (also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto) has thrown his support behind the newly founded cryptocurrency, MoonPaw.
Markus’s Tweet “2nd this! ” was in reply to MoonPaw’s announcement they are donating over US$8,000 to one or many deserving charities through a charity stream event this weekend.
Markus’s support is invaluable, especially coming as it does on the eve of ‘Dogecoin devotee’ Elon Musk’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) appearance in the US.
Since Musk, who is arguably the world’s richest person, was announced as SNL’s host, Doge has gone from roughly 25 cents to 70 cents – giving it a market value of about US$92 billion at the time of writing.
MoonPaw was released just last week and has already risen significantly, currently sitting at a market cap of $250,000 but is expected to far exceed that.
The Australian-based team has already raised over $10,000 in donations via fees, in which 2 percent of MoonPaw transactions are automatically allocated to a donation pool.
Featuring a cute logo based on a lovable Corgi dog in a spacesuit, floating happily in front of the moon, MoonPaw is predicted to become hugely popular in coming days, especially if Musk also gives it his seal of approval.
More than just another crypto token, the founders have said MoonPaw was designed to be a bridge between blockchain and entertainment, content and community.
“The goal of MoonPaw is to generate engaging streams of content for a variety of ages so we can educate and immerse the general public into the crazy world of cryptocurrency in an easy to understand and entertaining way,” they said.
“We are bringing crypto into everyday life to help create a seamless integration between the two!”
The founders said they have started by bringing MoonPaw’s stories to life in the form of comics, picture books and hopefully, fun mobile games.
“If we can also give back to wildlife conservation efforts in the process well that’s a bonus!”
