Speed networking event supercharges business connections
Fun, frantic and frenetic – three words that perfectly captured the atmosphere at yesterday’s Guinness Book of Records World Record Attempt for Business Speed Networking at Ascot Raceway.
Held by the NifNex Success Academy, the fast-paced event consisted of three supercharged sessions (9am/12 noon/3pm), and cost $25 per person to take part.
The goal was for the hundreds of business owners, development executives, managers and employees from a wide range of industries to sit down together and converse with a total of 20 other attendees in a row for three minutes at a time.
For anyone who has ever experienced speed dating this is surely the business equivalent, and the swapping of business cards was highly recommended so as to maintain the business links.
‘Networking on steroids’ would probably be a good summation and by the end of the hour-and-a-half or so of continuous introductions and counter-introductions, most people were beginning to feel a little weary.
For the event to be successful the total number of participants over the entire day needed to exceed 1068 – the current record held by a group of business networkers in Belgium.
Although the record remained unbroken yesterday, the event provided the many hundreds of participants, including myself, with an excellent opportunity to accelerate their business contacts and meet a large number of like-minded people in a very short time.
The brainchild of NifFex CEO and founder Zeeshan Pasha, the speed networking event will most definitely be on again next year.
