Guildford Heritage Festival ticks all the boxes

A great day was had by all at the annual Guildford Heritage Festival on Sunday.

I went along mainly to see the vintage cars and was not disappointed, as there was a huge range of pristine vintage, veteran and classic motor vehicles on display.

These ranged from the ‘Yank tanks’ such as old Chevies and some immaculate vintage Fords, to the classic English Rovers, Triumphs, Jaguars, Vauxhalls and Morris vehicles.

There was even a rare orange (officially ‘Tangerine’) 1970 Marcos roadster (pictured below) that turned many heads and proved a real ‘crowd pleaser’.

In the Motorcycle Custom Speedway section I was delighted to see some vintage BSA motorcycles, which included a mint-condition, British-built, American-import – the 440cc BSA ‘super scrambler’ (pictured below).

Other unusual vehicles included a 1970 Reliant GTE Scimitar imported from England – with a completely fibreglass body that will never rust.

The Festival also incorporated the Golden West Collectors Fair – so was full of market stalls, small exhibitions, trade and hobby demonstrations and art and craft displays – not to mention the fabulous food stalls.

The hundreds of visitors were also treated to entertainment throughout the day by the one-and-only ‘Mucky Duck Bush Band’ as well as other country, rock, and blues bands.

The venue in Stirling Square, Guildford was terrific – and I thought the organisers did a great job of catering for the large influx of people – especially around lunchtime when the crowds were at their greatest.

All in all, a festival designed to celebrate WA’s rich heritage that definitely ticked all the boxes.
